On 30 June 2024 have been published RiMe 14/III n.s. and 14/IV n.s. two volumes of a Special Issue entitled “¿Amigos o enemigos? España y Francia: intereses dinásticos e intereses nacionales (siglo XVIII)”, and “¿Amigos o enemigos? España y Francia: intereses dinásticos e intereses nacionales (siglo XVIII) – Comercio, negocios y contratación” / Edited by Joaquim Albareda Salvadó – Maria Betlem Castellà Pujols, Sergio Solbes Ferri – Rafael Torres Sánchez.
They are the result of the international conference that took place in Barcelona between 19 and 21 October 2022 under the title “¿Amigos o enemigos? España y Francia: intereses dinásticos e intereses nacionales (siglo XVIII)”. The international conference gathered more than 30 researchers from Spain, France, England and Argentina, from various research groups, with diverse topics of study and different historiographical traditions.
The methodological issues were tackled head-on with the recurring question of the forms and nature of relations between France and Spain. The different articles show that, in addition to the comparative history that has contributed so much to our historiographical traditions, there is space available for a history of interconnections conceived as forms of interdependence.
From this Spain-France opposition, combined with a diacritical political-economic approach, several conclusive arguments emerge. The two volumes are offered as a collection of rigorous and well-documented studies examining various historical aspects of a crucial period marked by political, diplomatic, cultural and economic transformations.
